October 4 & 5, 2003 The 141st
Anniversary Battle of Perryville will be held the weekend of October 4 & 5, 2003
and bring together participants with infantry, cavalry, and full-scale artillery
for a weekend of living history. Participant registration proceeds will go to
the Perryville Battlefield Preservation Association (PBPA) to further our
efforts to preserve the battlefield.
The recent acquisition of 600 acres of original battlefield is now available!
Public battles on Saturday and Sunday afternoons with a non-public tactical on
Saturday Morning. Separate camps for US Military, CS Military, Civilian, and
Mixed for Families. Sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Parks.
10 pounds of Powder for each Full-Scale Cannon registered by August 1, 2003.
You must register by September 1st to receive usual amenities. $10.00
pre-registration fee to September 1, 2003. $20 late-registration fee after
September 1, 2003.

October 4, 2003 The Reed’s Bridge
Preservation Society (with the support of the Capitol Guards and the 37th
Illinois) will host a presentation at the Reed’s Bridge Battlefield Park during
Jacksonville’s annual “Wing Ding” Festival (Saturday, October 4, from 9:00 a.m.
to approximately 4:00 p.m.,). All who are able to come out for the day, or at
least drop by for a couple of hours are strongly urged to do so. The Wing Ding
Festival will be at Dupree Park on Redmond Road, just off Highway 67/167, but
the RBPS’s main efforts will be located at the battlefield park itself, on
Highway 161 at Bayou Meto.

OCT 24-26, 2003 DeGray Lake Resort
State Park 7TH ANNUAL CIVIL WAR WEEKEND Spend the weekend at DeGray and
journey back in time to see how Billy Yank and Johnny Reb lived during the
battle between the North and the South. Enjoy living history demonstrations,
tacticals, skirmishes, and conversations with reenactors. Friday is School Day,
with groups attending by reservation only. Saturday night, don’t miss the

January 10, 2004–140th
David O. Dodd Memorial to add living history (detalis).
In commemoration of the 140TH anniversary of
the arrest, trial, and execution of David O. Dodd, Arkansas’s “Boy Hero of
the Confederacy,” the Central Arkansas Civil War Preservation Association,
in co-operation with the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, present
a living history program oriented on Dodd’s arrest, trial and conviction in the
first week of January 1864. In conjunction with this event, the MacArthur Museum
will feature a special display focused on Dodd, including the return of the
original Dodd stained glass window (on loan from the Museum of the Confederacy)
for display in the MacArthur Museum.
OBJECTIVES:
1) To present an account, based on the historical
record, of the circumstances surrounding Dodd’s arrest and conviction on the
charge of being a spy;
2) To present, in living history format, an accurate
represent-ation of military judicial procedures (trial by court martial or
military commission) as they were conducted during the American Civil War;
3) To celebrate the loan and return of the Dodd stained
glass window; and
4) To commemorate the 140th anniversary of Dodd’s
sacrifice.
