Living History Event – Life on the Home Front: Fall 1861
10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.The Old State House Museum will recreate life in Arkansas during the first year of the Civil War. Life on the home front will be explored as living historians portray civilians, soldiers, and politicians dealing with the realities of secession and war. Visitors will have an opportunity to experience issues such as shortages and currency instabilities, recruiting soldiers and equipping them, electing representatives and senators for the new Confederate national government in Richmond, dissent and disloyalty to the Confederate cause, and more. Children will also enjoy hands-on activities and old fashioned games. Admission is free.
