To: Member and Friends of the Civil War Roundtable of Arkansas
From: Rick Meadows, Secretary
At our last meeting of the Civil War Roundtable, we agreed to support preservation in two ways.
1. To continue our financial support to the Civil War Trust in land preservation.
2. To make financial gifts locally to the Reed’s Bridge Battlefield Preservation Society in Jacksonville
Last year our members made a donation to the Civil War Trust. Together we raised $1000 and became a Color Bearer! I am asking for your continued support. Can you send $25, 50, or $100? Thank you in advance for your consideration.
As Color Bearers, members of our Roundtable will receive invitations to exclusive historian-led battlefield tours, including a specially selected tour in conjunction with the annual conference. There is also a special dinner we are invited to attend with a noted historian at the annual conference. Our funds are not restricted and are used by the Civil War Trust to protect and purchase hallowed grounds when there is not sufficient time for normal fund raising.
As a preservationist, you can also choose to support Reed’s Bridge in Jacksonville. Currently, funds are being sought for additional land acquition and also for the purchase of an additional cannon. There are two cannons currently at the Battlefield along Highway 161 in Jacksonville. Each cannon is approximately $6000. The Reed’s Bridge Battlefield Preservation Society also is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.
Please make your check out to your organization of choice and mail it to my office. I will secure all donations and forward them to both organizations. Thank you for your continued support of Civil War Battlefields.
I wish as Merry Christmas to all. Hope to see you in January.
